Comparative Firs
Degrees of Comparison
An amazing ELT game to practice using the degrees of comparison.

(1) This game is best played in small groups of 3-4.

(2) Players shuffle the cards and deal them evenly. They must then "attack" each other clockwise (S1 -> S2 -> S3 -> S4 -> S1).

Student 1 chooses a card (e.g. BIG) and puts it on the table. Student 2 needs to defend himself / herself by completing the tree with 2 matching cards (BIGGER - THE BIGGEST).

If Student 2 has these matching cards, he / she wins the round. The fir tree is complete, it is out of the game. Student 2 can then attack Student 3.

However, if Student 2 doesn't have the matching adjectives, he / she must take Student 1's card. The round is lost, Student 2 misses the next turn.

(3) The goal of the game is to get rid of all cards faster than everybody else.
